Hi everyone,
I figured now would be a good time to warn you all about the dangers of selling any goods you make. As most of you know, I have uploaded some scenedog auctions recently! Today, I got many bids, but my most recent bidder for both of the adopts was shadow518. When one of the auctions closed and this person did not pay immediately, I began to get suspicious. As I did a background search on this person, I see that he has a reputation for being an art thief and that he has not paid people for their artwork (mainly adoptables). He's offered large amounts of points to people, but then asks for the artwork to be held. He never pays these poor artists, who will now have to give their adoptables to the second-highest bidders. Unfortunately, this also has happened to me!

As I confessed my fears that he did not have enough points to pay for my adoptables (since I had read shadow518's comment yesterday saying that he only had 5 :points:), my customer started to get angry. He said that HE was the one who didn't want to get scammed by me. He said he did not know what the art I was going to give him looked like, so I told him, plainly, that it would be the exact same reference sheet that I had uploaded, except the name of his character would be written on the reference. As he told me he had been scammed 100 times, I again asserted that he needed to pay or I'd give the design to someone else. He made up an excuse that deviantART had sent him an error message concerning the inability to donate points to me, which I knew was a false, unprofessional error message. Since I knew the error message was obviously a fraud, I was not ashamed to point that out to him. As I told him kindly to pay the points or I'd have to give the design up, my customer started using foul language and rage. After I had sent a final message that there would be no transaction because I had had enough of his excuses and foul language and had heard of his reputation from other people on the site complaining about him, shadow518 again sent a rude message before I blocked him.

Therefore, I urge you to keep an eye out for the people around you and their customers! I really don't want to have to do a background check on all my potential clientele, I find that it might be necessary now.
Don't let this happen to you, my little cuties! Be aware! To be on the safe side, you might as well block this person before he can try to delude you, too!
Take this as a warning: Be careful about who you sell to!

If any of you are interested in reading the aforementioned conversation, it can be found here: comments.deviantart.com/1/3462…

For those of you who are curious as to why the scenedogs have been momentarily replaced with dark grey blocks: I needed to make sure that this person couldn't take a screen-capture of my artwork after he started refusing to pay.

Stay safe, lovelies!

[EDIT] It has been brought to my attention that the person I mentioned in this journal has an alternate account, flames-the-guard. Make sure to take precautions when dealing with these accounts!
